Dedicated Dance Director Earns Membership With Stanford Who's Who
Stanford Who's Who welcomes Val Deakin to the ranks of leading professionals as a result of her sensational work in the Performing Arts Industry.
OAKURA, TARANAKI, NEW ZEALAND, January 3, 2011 /Stanford Who's Who/ -- Stanford Who's Who welcomes Val Deakin to the ranks of leading professionals as a result of her sensational work in the Performing Arts Industry. As Director of the Val Deakin Theatre Trust and the Val Deakin Dance School, as well as throughout her incredible 55 year career, Val has consistently demonstrated the vision, dedication and diligence necessary to be considered among the best.
Established in 1973, the Val Deakin Theatre Trust presents professional dance performance with a repertoire that ranges from new modern dances to lively restagings of full-length classical ballets.
The Val Deakin Dance School, affiliated with but separate from the Val Deakin Dance Theatre Trust, offers classes in ballet, jazz, modern and tap for children as young as age 5 through adults. The school also offers pre-school movement classes for 3-5 year olds, as well as classes in character dance, mime and pas de deux for advanced dancers.
Val is a highly successful choreographer, dance teacher and theatre director. She studied with Margaret Craske at the Arts Educational School in London as well as the Royal Ballet London and Molly Lake (Pavlova company) in Turkey. Val was the recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Suffrage Centennial Award in 1993 and the Taranaki Women of Spirit Award in 2008.
