Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and Shantala Shivalingappa are set to appear in Rome to perform a dance piece called Play.

ROME, ITALY, January 09, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The talented Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and Shantala Shivalingappa will be on stage in Rome at the city's Parco della Musica this year as part of a dance festival.

A piece entitled Play will be performed by the pair on February 1st and 2nd 2011 and is likely to appeal to fans of contemporary dance.

Cherkaoui and Shivalingappa took the same show to the UK in 2009 and received some impressive reviews, with Sadler's Wells describing how the production explores male and female energy and the interaction between the sexes.

While the former is a Flemish-Moroccan dancer and choreographer, the latter performer is lauded as a kudipuchi dancer, although she does share the writing credits for Play.

A Parisian reviewer cited on Shivalingappa's official website remarked: "Shantala dances to convey that beauty and grace, to share the joy and deep emotion of kuchipudi. As she dances, Shantala incarnates lightness and grace."

If that description is anything to go by, attendees from 5 star hotels in Rome are in for a beautiful evening.

Admission for the occasion costs EUR25 (GBP21.10), with the show beginning at 21:00 local time on both nights.

The piece forms part of the wider Equilibrio dance festival taking place in the city.
