1980s-themed club Maggie's announces Generation Jones event
Hip Chelsea club pays tribute to generation between Boomers and Xers

LONDON, ENGLAND, June 23, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The 1980s-themed Chelsea nightclub Maggie's announces a special event celebrating Generation Jones--the generation between the Boomers and GenXers who fuelled much of 1980s pop culture. The event will be held at Maggie's on Wednesday, 23 June from 10:30pm to 2:30am.

Since its opening in late April 2010, Maggie's has quickly become one of London's most popular clubs. Inspired by 1980s icon Margaret Thatcher, Maggie's pays tribute to that decade, complete with disco balls, loaner leg warmers, a Beano collage, and Rubik's Cube tables. Thatcher's most famous speeches are broadcast in the lavatories, while bartenders dressed like Tom Cruise in the cult film "Cocktail" serve up classic 1980s drinks.

GenJonesers—born 1955-1967—were the teens and twenties in the 1980s who drove many of the most popular fads and trends of that era. Many of that decade's biggest stars including Bono, Madonna, George Michael, Prince, and Michael Jackson were Gen Jonesers.

Generation Jones has been the subject of much recent media attention in the UK, stemming from the 6 May General Election. That election resulted in a historic generational transition in national leadership when after decades of power, Baby Boom politicians passed the torch to Generation Jones. Prime Minister David Cameron, Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg, and approximately half of the new Cabinet and Parliament are all members of Generation Jones.
