UCW's Professional Theatre and Dance Department's Black History Celebration African American Women Through the Ages
University of Chicago dance student to performed on Feb. 25, 2010 in Chicago.


CHICAGO, IL, February 03, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The University of Chicago Charter School, Woodlawn Campus Professional Theatre and Dance Department is gearing up for their annual black history production. The production will honor the achievements of African American women past, present and future. Featured guest speaker will be Chicago's community activist, Ms. Mattie Butler, Founder and Executive Director of WECAN.

The University of Chicago Charter School, Woodlawn Campus Professional Theatre and Dance Department is very proud to present featured dance performances by the Andrea Kelly Dance Theater, one of Chicago's foremost contemporary dance companies and Boyz of Poison, voted Chicago's number one dance crew. In addition to this exciting line up there will be special student performances by UCW's Professional Theatre and Dance Department and Studio One, one of Chicago's most cutting edge youth dance conservatories. Preceding the production there will be an art exhibition featuring student work and local Chicago artists.

The art exhibition will open at 6:00 p.m. and the production will start at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students. The event will take place Thursday, February 25, 2010 at the University of Chicago Charter School, Woodlawn Campus located at 6420 S. University Ave., Chicago IL 60637. This production is produced by Artistic Director, Michael Jones, Associate Producer, Ahava Silkey and Choreographer Dantriell Houston.
