PITTSBURGH, PA, December 2, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Colleen B. Travis, Trustee of the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre and Chairwoman of the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera Ball 2009, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in fundraising.
As a trustee of the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre and member of the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera Guild, Colleen B. Travis is responsible for corresponding through e-Mail regarding the organizations, working on fundraising events and projects, meeting members, and hosting events. She become involved in her profession because a friend of hers was an executive director and thought she would be able to help with fundraising and charity events. She knew this was a good way to give back to the community. Ms. Travis is also an officer of the Confrerie de la Chaine des Rotisseurs.
Through the efforts of the company's first artistic director Nicholas Petrov and benefactor Loti Falk Gaffney, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre found its beginnings in 1969 and soon was playing host to some of the most talented artists of the day, including Frederick Franklin, Violette Verdy and Edward Villela.
